Audubon Louisiana invites you to learn how to build a warbler nest box! Workshop participants learn about Prothonotary Warblers and why these are special, important songbirds. By building, installing, and monitoring nest boxes made to these birds' needs, you can help reverse the decline of Prothonotary Warbler populations.
Prothonotary Warblers have seen a 40% decline in population since the 1960s.These birds, once known as Golden Swamp Warblers, are in great need of suitable places to nest and live. They are forest-dwelling birds that nest in tree cavities and prefer wet forests, like swamps and bottomlands. They are typically found in Louisiana between March and early October.
